That's Dancing

The over 10,000 square foot building has four,
state of the art, oversized studios, large girls dressing area and bathrooms, boys changing area and bathroom and huge lobby.

Two studios are designed with sprung floating wood flooring and the other two with Time-Step sprung Marley Flooring. Each studio is equipped with a remote controlled sound system, portable and wall mounted barres and professional studio mirrors.

We have created the ultimate facility for the education and training of the finest dancers in South Florida.

Andrea LaMaina received her BFA in Dance Performance and Education from Towson University in Maryland. She is a certified teacher with the Dance Masters of America Organization and is a member of Dance Masters Chapter 2. She holds a National Teacher Education certification as well as a Teacher Certification in Dance/Vocational Arts. Andrea's choreography has won numerous awards and she is proud to be the choroegrapher for many title winning dancers including: National Miss IDC & Dance Week Centerstage Award 2007, DMA Miss Dance of Florida 2007, Miss Headliner Fort Lauderdale 2006, DMA Petite Miss Dance of Florida 2006, DMA Mini Miss Dance of Florida 2005, Teen Miss Headliner Fort Lauderdale 2005 and Senior Miss Global Dance of Fort Lauderdale 2003. She has worked as a guest teacher for Palm Beach Atlantic University and travels to teach master classes in tap and modern dance. Before college, Andrea trained under Master Teacher Fred Knecht at the Knecht Dance Academy in Langhone, Pennsylvania. She continues to supplement her dance education by taking classes from well-known teachers and choreographers and attending festivals like Florida Dance Festival and Southeastern Tap Explosion. Before becoming co-owner and Artistic Director of That’s Dancing, she was a faculty member at Glen Rock Middle School where she designed and created an exploratory arts curriculum, which included dance and creative movement. In 1997, she was nominated for The Sallie Mae Best New Teacher of the Year Award, a national honor recognizing her achievements in innovative curriculum development and design for public education. Andrea has also danced professionally with DDM Company based in Fairlawn, New Jersey. She is an active member of the National Dance Association and the Florida Dance Association. In 1994, she was chosen to perform with renowned choreographer Maureen Fleming in an original work at the Stephen’s Hall Theater in Baltimore. In 1990, Andrea was a scholarship recipient for the Alvin Ailey Summer Dance Program. For several years, Andrea was a performer and featured dancer in various roles at the Bucks County Playhouse in Pennsylvania including: 42nd Street, Babes in Toyland, and The King and I.


 

Michele Walsh holds a Master of Education in Dance from Temple University and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from the University of Miami. Michele is a certified instructor with the Dance Masters of America Association and belongs to Dance Masters Of America Florida Chapter 2. She has trained with many respectable dance instructors including Fred Knecht, Katiti King, Eva Gholson, David Howard and Francis Kiernan. Before co-owning That's Dancing with Andrea LaMaina, Michele was a faculty member at the Purnell School in Pottersville, New Jersey, where she was the Head of the Performing Arts Department and dance teacher. At Purnell, she taught ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, tap, African dance, movement improvisation and choreography to students ages 13-18. Michele has choreographed several musicals including Quilters, The Utter Glory of Morrissey Hall, Prom Queens Unchained, Starmites, Smile and I'm Sorry The Bridge Is Out, You'll Have To Spend The Night. Her work was nominated for Best Ensemble from the Papermill Playhouse Rising Stars Awards, a professional Theater company in Millburn, New Jersey. Michele has danced professionally with the Red Bank Ballet Company and the American Repertory Ballet, formerly the Princeton Ballet Company. She has even danced in the Super Bowl XXIII half time show in Miami at Joe Robbie Stadium, where she was a featured dancer. To stay on the cutting edge of dance, she has attended the Jazz Dance World Congress in Chicago, Bates Dance Festival in Lewiston, Maine, the Florida Dance Festival in Tampa and Miami and New York on the Road, a traveling dance workshop. Michele is also an active member of both the National Dance Association and The Florida Dance Association which promote dance in a variety of venues.
 
 

 
Faculty

Loren Foster is the Director of the Young Dancers Program at That's Dancing. She joined our faculty as a full-time teacher in 2002. Ms. Foster teaches ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical and modern dance at all ages and levels. Ms. Foster also works with Fusion Force Dance Company and her choreography has received numerous awards at regional competitions. Ms. Foster is the teacher and choreographer of Senior Miss Headliner National 2006-2007. Her award winning solo choreography represented Team USA at the IDO World Showdance Championships 2006 in Riesa, Germany. Loren received her BFA in Dance from Florida State University with honors in Liberal Studies. While at FSU, she was a member of the Dance Repertory Theatre, the dance department’s performance company. She was also a member of FSU’s Golden Girls, the university’s competition dance team. A native Floridian, Loren trained with many local teachers and graduated from the Alexander Dreyfoos School of the Arts as a dance major. She was a member of the Deborah Lopez Modern Dance Company and Platinum Gold Entertainment Company. Before joining the That’s Dancing family, she served as Dance Director of LimeLight Productions, Inc. in Sierra Vista, Arizona, teaching ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip-hop and musical theater. Loren regularly attends dance workshops and festivals including the Arizona Jazz Dance Festival in Tucson, the Florida Dance Festival in Miami, Southeastern Tap Explosion in Atlanta and the Jazz Dance World Congress in Chicago.

 

Lawrence Albright has been teaching, dancing, and performing his style of hip-hop for eight years in shows throughout the states of NY, NJ, PA, and FL. He has choreographed for many college dance teams including Rutgers University and Florida International University. He has also choreographed pieces in professional dance companies such as P-FUNK dance company, Infinite DS, Like Clockwork, Sean’s Dance Factory, and Next Level. His teaching experience is extensive, having taught at many dance studios and conducted master classes for many conventions including Dance Masters of America (FL), Street Stylz, Pick the Stars International (Can), The Winter Dance Festival at the South Florida School of the Arts, and the Broadway Bound Dance Intensive from Star Systems Dance Competition (NY). He has also been part of the opening acts for such artists as Lil Mo, Fabolous, Common, and Nelly. Mr. Albright has been a guest faculty member at That’s Dancing since 2006 and joined as a permanent faculty member in 2008. Larry teaches all ages and levels of hip-hop at That's Dancing.

 

 

Stacy Grattan is a recent graduate of Florida Atlantic University where she received her bachelors degree. She trained at That’s Dancing under the direction of Andrea LaMaina and Michele Walsh. During her training at That’s Dancing, Ms. Grattan was a teacher assistant and served as a substitute teacher. She danced professionally with entertainment companies and has also performed in the Miami Dolphins half-time show and the Citrus Bowl Classic half-time spectacular. Stacy enhances her dance education by taking master classes and attending dance festivals and workshops. Ms. Grattan joined the faculty as a part time teacher for the fall 2004 and 2005 dance seasons teaching classes in the Young Dancers Program as well as elementary level classes in ballet, tap and jazz.

 

 

 

Katherine Lameyer has been teaching dance in Palm Beach County for the past seven years and joined the faculty of That's Dancing in the summer of 2008. She has twenty years of experience as a dancer, competing and winning many regional and national competitions. She has also won many dance scholarships which have given her the opportunity to train with many respected and admired dance teachers including the “Edith Royal Scholarship”. She was also a member of Florida Dance Masters “Main Attraction” and a contestant on ABC Family’s “Dance Fever” in 2003. Ms. Lameyer aspires each day to share her knowledge and love of dance to her students in an educational and fun atmosphere. Katherine teaches classes within the Young Dancers Program as well as ballet, jazz and modern.

 

 

 

Nicole Jaquetti received her BA degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She majored in dance pedagogy and performance and minored in exercise science. Ms. Jaquetti has studied under world renowned dancers and choreographers such as Luigi, Wade Robeson and Demetrius Klein. She has also worked with Miss Alice of the original Jose Limon Dance Company, Jennifer Archbald of Arch Dance, Eileen Hebron of American Ballet Theatre and Steven Carris of The New York City Ballet. Nicole dances professionally in several local dance companies performing throughout Florida. Ms. Jaquetti joined the faculty of That’s Dancing for the Fall 2008-09 session. She teaches classes in ballet, modern and jazz, as well as classes within our young dancers program. (headshot coming soon)

 

 

 

Erin Sinsley is a graduate of Kent State University (Kent, Ohio) with a BFA in Dance Education. She has been teaching and choreographing for the past seven years at Dance Academy South in Akron, Ohio, where she was the Director of the Youth Program, developing a curriculum for multiple levels of ballet, modern and jazz dance. She has contributed to the choreography and production of many of their year-end concerts including Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Isadora Dances and The Christmas Angel. Erin served as teh Artistic Director of the Manchester Dance Ensemble, a non-profit pre-professional youth dance company for their 2007-2008 season, until she relocated to Florida with her family in June. To further enhance her training, she previously completed a summer of dance study at the American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina and has attended the Ohio Dance Festival. Erin is very happy to be joining the faculty at That's Dancing, and she is enjoying settling into her new home.

 

 

Sarah Sussman is currently a Human Services student and plans to further her education and earn a Bachelors degree in Social Work. As a student at That's Dancing for the last 9 years, Ms. Sussman has been trained under the supervision of Andrea LaMaina and Michele Walsh. In addition to the technique classes she has taken to continually enhance her dancing, Ms. Sussman has performed professionally, taken a variety of master classes and workshops, and competed at both regional and national levels. Ms. Sussman is an intern for The Young Dancer Foundation of South Florida, Inc. as well as for A Second Chance Puppies and Kittens Rescue, Inc. She enjoys incorporating her love of dance to reach out and advocate for our community: Autism Walk, Community Shows for children and elders, Benefit Performances, and Fundraising Events. She is excited to be part of the faculty and will be teaching classes within the Young Dancer's Program as well as Level 1 Modern, Tap and Jazz classes.

 

 

Guest Faculty

Jennifer Moskowitz  is originally from Newark, MD. She began her adventure in dance at the age of 9 and never looked back. This journey took her to Philadelphia, where she received her BFA in Jazz/Theater Dance from The University of the Arts. Upon graduating, her dreams led her to Los Angeles where she performed with Winifred R. Harris Between Lines for two seasons. During her time in Los Angeles she discovered that not only did she love performing but she was passionate about passing on what she had learned over the years. And so began the next big adventure. Jennifer continued to perform and teach in LA until returning to her hometown in 2001. She took the next three years and concentrated on honing her own style of teaching. Then, once again, she followed her dreams and let them lead her to New York. While in New York, she performed with Emancia Dance Company as a soloist, working as the rehearsal assistant and a guest choreographer for two seasons in addition to a full teaching schedule. Her adventures have finally led her to Florida where she joined the faculty of That’s Dancing in August 2006. Ms. Moskowitz taught ballet, jazz, modern, lyrical, hip-hop and classes in the Young Dancers Program in addition to choreographing for Fusion Force Dance Company. She returned to NYC in the fall of 2008 to pursue her dream of starting a dance company. Her choreography was set on the Junior members of Fusion Force Dance Company for the 2008-2009 dance season. Melanie Creek graduated with a BFA in dance. Her career has taken numerous "twists and turns" taking her from New York to the high seas, where she was a lead dancer for several cruise lines. Her credits include Grease, Crazy for You, and Showboat. Melanie has performed in numerous conventions and industrials, doing such gigs as the opening number for the Daytona 500, Universal Studios, Swing Production, Hard Rock Café Live, Nickelodeon video shoot for kids show, Pepsi, and many more. She also appeared as a featured dancer on a National Television commercial. Melanie is now married and has lived in several different cities, including New Orleans, Orlando and Houston. She previously co-owned and operated a dance studio in the Orlando area. Melanie has been a guest teacher/choreographer for several studios around the country and her choreography has won her numerous awards. Not only has Melanie accomplished success, her kids have also won numerous awards including different Regional and National titles and also many scholarships. One of Melanie's students had a NBC casting director hand pick her for a television show called Most Talented Kids in America. Creek currently owns/directs a studio in Jackson, Mississippi. Melanie has adjudicated both at the National and Regional competitions and is thrilled to see the talent and energy she sees in the dancers today.

Isis Masoud grew up in Florida, where she trained with Dana & Mia Michaels and received her BA in Theater at the University of Miami. A well-rounded performer, Isis’s credits vary from choreographer to producer, in all realms of the business including film, television, commercial and theater. Recently, Isis served as assistant choreographer on “Boys From Syracuse” with Dan Knechtges & David Schweizer. She also worked with film company Rakontur as field producer for the new doc-series “Clubland” about nightlife on South Beach, and was hand picked to be an artist associate on a workshop for a new Broadway show choreographed by David Parsons, and directed by John Caird (“Les Mis/Jane Eyre”). Isis’s choreography was featured on the ABC Family television show “Dance Fever” in Las Vegas, as well as regional productions of “Hair”, “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”, and “La Femme Est Morte” as part of the NYC Fringe Festival. She co-wrote, directed, and choreographed “At The Diner”, an original dance musical, performed Off-Broadway at The Duke Theater in Times Square. She is currently on faculty at Broadway Dance Center & Steps in NYC and is working as a master teacher with many dance organizations all over the country. She was also recently seen performing work by Savion Glover in a choreographer’s showcase in NYC, and can also be seen in the upcoming films “Kissing Don’t Last, but Cooking Do” as well as “The Road”. Ms. Masoud taught as a guest teacher during our 2007 Summer Mini Dance Camp Session. Ms. Masoud also choreographed for members of Fusion Force Dance Company and her small group pieces will premiered at the January 2008 Fusion Force Dance Company performance and benefit event. That’s Dancing students rave about the classes Isis teaches. Her style and choreography are awesome . . . and we are psyched every time she comes to That’s Dancing to teach! Isis set a piece on our Teen/Senior Company that will be presented during the 2008-2009 dance season.

Karen Gayle is originally from Toronto, and began her training at the Claude Watson School for the Arts. While continuing her training at the Toronto Dance Theatre and the Randolph Dance Theatre, she received her Bachelor’s degree from Ryerson University. After moving to New York, she furthered her studies at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. Karen has worked with such companies as Earl Mosley’s Diversity in Dance, the Mantis Dance Project, Canboulay Dance Theatre, and had the honor of working with such choreographers as Ronald K. Brown, Earl Mosley and Tony winner Hinton Battle. Currently she is a faculty member at Steps on Broadway, Ballet Hispanico and New Dance Group and has had the opportunity to guest teach and choreograph across the U.S. and abroad, including Canada, Mexico, Bolivia and Italy. On screen, she has also had the opportunity to work in films with such actors as Academy award winner Louis Gossett Jr. and Tony award winner Betty Buckley. As artistic director of Xodus Dance Collective, Karen has had the opportunity to showcase her choreography at such venues as: Evolving Arts Theatre, Steps on Broadway, Uptown Performance Series, Recreo Theatro, Aaron Davis Hall and PMT Festival Showcase. Karen is also the choreographer of Deante Dance, a series of modern dance based fitness videos, and Street Fusion an instructional street jazz and hip hop DVD. Katherine Kramer , Producing Artistic Director, has been a vital presence in the resurgence of classic jazz and tap dance since the 1970's. A performer whose influences range from her early tap mentors Brenda Bufalino, Honi Coles, Ralph Brown and Charles "Cookie" Cook, to classical tap artist, Paul Draper, master of choreographic improvisation, Richard Bull and legendary dancer/choreographer/author, Daniel Nagrin. Ms. Kramer has appeared in concert with tap masters Coles, Bufalino, and Cook, as well as Sarah Petronio, Diane Walker, Gregory Hines, Savion Glover and many of her contemporaries and was a featured soloist in the 1996 National Tap Extravaganza in New York. She has taught and performed at Portsmouth Percussive Dance Festival, Soul to Sole Festival in Austin, TX and the Florida Dance Festival in Miami. In 1980 she assisted Jane Goldberg in producing "By Word of Foot" at the Village Gate in New York, bringing together many of tap's most celebrated artists, including the late John Bubbles. She has collaborated and performed with musicians Ray Anderson, Rebecca Mauleon, Dave Samuels, Kristen Korb, Michael Spiro, Virginia Mayhew, Francesca Tanksley, among others. Prior to evolving into a jazz artist, she performed as a modern dancer with Laura Dean, Kei Takei, Bill T. Jones, Arnie Zane, and Lois Welk and with Ara Fitzgerald, co-directed the company, Fitzgerald, Kramer and Bean. For seven years Ms. Kramer directed her own company, Syncopated, Inc. and has toured internationally, two one-woman shows, "Rhythms of the Heart" and "Tap Roots." Katherine was the choreographer and movement coach for the film, "The Horse Whisperer," directed by and starring Robert Redford. Her choreography is featured in the music video of the Academy Award nominated song by Allison Moorer, "A Soft Place To Fall." She holds a Masters Degree in Movement and Dance from Wesleyan University and a BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College. She has taught at universities throughout the country and has been commissioned to create dances for numerous companies and universities, including Montana Transport Co., Decidedly Jazz Danceworks, Stephens College, University of Alaska, Skidmore College, Youth Dance Unlimited, Florida International University, Eastern Kentucky University, Miami Dade College and Manhattanville College. Katherine is currently based in Miami, Florida during the school year and teaches at Florida International University, Miami Dade College and Barry University. During the summer she is in Montana.

Nicholas Zborowski began his training at the young age of eleven, studying all forms of dance and attending various workshops across the country. Specializing in hip-hop and tap dancing, Nicholas has been able to work with artists, choreographers, and dancers all over the world. Nicholas was based out of Dallas for the better part of three years, working on his choreography and teaching skills with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Dallas Maverick dancers, Dallas Desperados dancers, and various studios in the metroplex area. Other professional experiences while in Dallas include: Showbiz the class National convention, Adrenaline National convention, National commercial for the Movie Channel, Beauty control show, Eclipse Entertainment, Planet Funk, Guess Jeans, Caruth Haven Stilt walker, Remake of Stomp, Disneyland, Omni Manalay Salsa Dancer, Karita Vita hair show, Vidal Sassoon hair show, as well as many top ten numbers for various competitions. Nicholas has since moved to Los Angeles, California and was picked up by recording artist Chayanne for his world tour. Nicholas has been able to travel to Spain, Brazil, London, and more. Nicholas is now traveling the country teaching workshops and judging for competitions. Now based in L.A. Nick hopes to start a good foundation for teaching and choreography.
