Getting to know us …
WHAT IS FFDC?
FFDC stands for Fusion Force Dance Company and is the competitive dance team here at That’s Dancing. Fusion Force Dance Company members train more intensely that your average recreational student. Dancers focus their training on technique, artistry, and performance. If your dancer is selected to be part of this team, they are committing themselves to a season full of dancing, performing, fun, and artistic and personal growth.
Our members range in age from 5-18 years old and dancers compete in all technique styles.
That’s Dancing and FFDC are proud to have many alumni that move on to further their dance careers at some of the top universities in the nation like the Juilliard School, University of Southern California, University of Florida, Pace University, Florida State University, University of Miami, and more! Training at the competitive level allows dancers to become more responsible, set goals and work to achieve them both individually and as a team, and more!
HOW DO I QUALIFY TO BE PART OF THIS DANCE COMPANY?
Dancers are hand selected by faculty and directors. We are looking for dancers that possess a strong work ethic, enthusiastic and dedicated learners and positive individuals with a drive for excellence and team spirit.
WHAT EXPENSES ARE INCURRED WHEN OFFERED A POSITION TO THE TEAM?
Group Dance Choreography and Costuming
All FFDC teams participate in large group choreography. This varies from 1-4 large group pieces depending on which team your dancer is a part of.
Large group costume fees are typically due in November and vary in price. These costumes typically start at $150 per costume.
Unlike the dance gala, these costume fees do not include tights, accessories or shoes. Additional fees may apply.
FFDC Bundle
Female Bundle range is aprox. $400- $500 and includes the FFDC team member jacket, FFDC embroidered backpack, FFDC jewelry pack for competition.
Male Bundle range aprox $300 - $400 and includes the FFDC team member jacket and FFDC embroidered backpack.
All FFDC members are expected to attend all scheduled mandatory performances and competitions.
How many performances do dancers do a year?
FFDC members will perform in select community events. We typically do a holiday event. A mandatory winter performance that takes place in either January or February.
How many competitions do dancers do a year?
3-4 regional competitions a season. Competitions typically happen between the months of February-May.
Where are the competitions?
We try to stay local for the most part. Families can be expected to travel to South Florida (Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, etc.). Travel typically does not exceed an hour drive. Some families may choose to stay in hotels near the competition venue, but it is not requirement. Optional competitions and conventions are held in Miami, Orlando, and select out of state locations
How much are competition fees?
Parents should be prepared to spend aprox $60-$100 per large group dance their dancer is a part of per competition. All FFDC classes will have a large group dance (excluding Petite FFDC Technique class). Additional fees incur for special groups, solos, duets and trios.
Other Expenses
Some additional expenses would include guest artist classes and specialty intensives, summer intensives, ffdc intensive (August), special shoe requirements, optional conventions
