Brenan Joseph Gonzalez is a first generation Cuban-American artist from Lake Worth, FL, who began his dance training at That’s Dancing Dance Studio, igniting a passion and curiosity for Hip-Hop styles at the age of 4. He is a 2021 graduate from Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, and recently a 2025 graduate and Trustee Scholar at the University of Southern California Glorya Kaufman School of Dance. Brenan is a two-time YoungArts awardee, including a 2020 honorable mention and a 2021 merit award, both in Modern/Contemporary.
Through his expansive, detailed, and rooted movement vocabulary in multiple dance genres, the notion of hybridity is a significant aspect of his work within dance, employing various cultural modes and tapping into individual lived experiences. As a dancer, Brenan has had the opportunity to perform works by notable artists and choreographers such as Kyle Abraham, Hope Boykin, Peter Chu, Bret Easterling, Roderick George, Jiří Kylián, Micaela Taylor, and more.
Most recently, Brenan has delved into site-specific choreographic and interdisciplinary performance art, finding the conversation between movement and other disciplines such as film, fashion, technology, and research. Brenan’s choreographic and compositional works have become rooted in the themes of process, community, collaboration, memory, and culture. Aligned with his passion for choreography comes a passion for teaching in the dance arts, that of which is exercised through community outreach programs such as USC Kaufman Connections, in addition to various dance studios and programs across South Florida
